Squeaky is built so that your media never leaves your computer. This page lists everything that does.

Your files

Transcription and cleaning happen entirely on your PC. Squeaky never uploads, syncs or shares your files, the clean copies it makes, or anything about what is in them.

License checks

When you activate a license, and about once a week after, the app sends your license key to cleanyourmedia.com. When you activate, it also sends your PC’s name (so you can recognise it on “Your license”) and an anonymous machine code: a scrambled one-way fingerprint of Windows’ installation ID that can’t be turned back into it. That is how the app knows your license is still good, and which one PC it is active on. Nothing about your files is included.

Update check

Off unless you turn it on. When on, the app downloads one small file from cleanyourmedia.com to see whether a newer version exists. It sends nothing but that request.

Buying

Stripe sells Squeaky as our merchant of record and handles payment. We never see or store your card details; Stripe keeps your name, email, billing address and order, and we use them to run your license, email you your key and support you. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what they do with payment details. Your license-key email is sent through Resend.

This website

No analytics, no advertising trackers. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in to “Your license”, and they hold nothing but a reference to your license.
